Description
Paphiopedilum philippinense var laevigatum album is the green and white form of this compact multifloral species from the Philippines. This species has many varieties and subspecies, which makes it difficult to know exactly what you have. In this case, we have the album form of laevigatum. These plants will produce up to 5 green and white flowers with long petals. Jay Phal’s online orchid species encyclopedia lists a couple varieties of this species.
We find Paphiopedilum philippinense is relatively easy to grow. Keep in mind that this species doesn’t usually produce roots from new growths until they are a year old. This can make them harder to establish when divided. Give them bright light and warm temperatures and they will grow well for you. More details on Paph culture can be found here.
