Description
Paphiopedilum amabile (bullenianum) is actually currently recognized as Paphiopedilum bullenianum var. bullenianum. We are keeping the ‘amabile’ name on it for now as these things seem to keep changing. The group containing this species and appletonianum is a very confusing complex and I don’t claim to be a taxonomist.
The species comes from Borneo and surrounding areas. Jay’s site has more details on its habitat.
These are very easy to grow and flower, requiring moderate light and intermediate to warm temperatures. The foliage is quite distinctive.
