Paphiopedilum helenae

$35.00

Paph helenae is a most charming miniature species. You can literally grow a specimen plant in a 2″ pot. Easy to grow, just keep it in a well-drained mix and on the dry side in the winter months. Never let it stand in water.

This is presumably a triploid cross. We made tetraploids so that the flowers would last longer. Crossing these back to typical diploids will give triploids, which should also have longer lasting flowers but they will be more reluctant to breed.

Blooming size plants in 2″ pots.

Description

Paphiopedilum helenae is a miniature species from China and Vietnam. The plants are tiny with charming flowers in the fall. It grows on rocks so it appreciates a well-drained potting mix. You can learn more about its habitat at Jay’s site.

This cross was made with two of our very best examples of this species. They should produce some excellent results.
