Description
Paphiopedilum vietnamense is a highly desirable slipper orchid from Vietnam. This species was never legally imported into the USA. Smuggled plants were confiscated by US Fish and Wildlife and sent to a rescue center, where they were pollinated. The seed was sent to Antec Labs and the plants were made available to hobbyists.
These plants come from limestone cliffs, usually in shaded locations. Summers are warm and winters are cool and dry. You can learn more about its habitat at Jay’s online orchid species encyclopedia.
We grow these with our complex Paphs. Moderate light and temperatures seem to suit them well. They can benefit from the addition of oyster shells to the potting mix.
