Paphiopedilum helenae-select tetraploid
From a population treated to produce tetraploids. We are very confident that this is a 4n seedling due to the size of the staminodal shield. We used this plant when we needed tetraploid pollen. That said we can’t guarantee that this is a tetraploid…it’s just our best guess. We don’t have a lab at our disposal to count chromosomes!
The flowers may be faded by the time we ship. One is still fairly fresh today as we listed this (10/15/20).

Paphiopedilum helenae-select tetraploid (we think!)
This seedling came from a batch of seed that was treated to induce tetraploids. The staminode is larger than most of its siblings and the foliage is thicker and wider. Very likely that this is 4n, but you can’t be sure without laboratory analysis. We were confident enough to use this plant when we wanted tetraploid pollen.
