Description
Paphiopedilum parishii is an unusual species from Thailand and China. It is similar to Paphiopedilum dianthum but the dorsal sepal is green instead of white, and the petals have more red pigment. Some clones have a purple hue in the petals, some are more red. It also produces more flowers per spike, with up to 8 or 9 flowers on a well grown plant.
The habitat of this species is subjected to a monsoon climate. Warm and very wet in the summer, cooler and drier in the winter. We find that they do not really need a dry season to thrive. When cooler winter weather sets in we water everything a bit less and that seems to be enough to initiate flowering. They grow alongside all of our other multifloral species and hybrids.
