Phragmipedium Peruflora’s Spirit is a hybrid of (kovachii x Eric Young). The flowers are quite large due to the kovachii influence, with some well over 6″ on a mature plant. While Phragmipedium kovachii can be challenging to grow, its hybrids have proven to be quite vigorous and hardy. This cross was made with a tetraploid Eric Young so these plants are triploid. Triploids are usually more vigorous than typical diploids.
Phragmipedium kovachii plants are huge, but the Eric Young parent keeps this hybrid down to a manageable size. This hybrid is easy to grow and will bloom during the late fall through spring seasons. Just give these plants intermediate conditions and moderate light and they will reward you with large colorful flowers. We have some cultural tips on our Phragmipedium culture page.
