Phragmipedium longifolium album is the green form of this species from Central and South America. It is found in areas where water seeps through the soil almost constantly. As a result it doesn’t like to dry out. You can learn more about its habitat on Jay’s page here.
This is one of the easiest Phrag species to grow. It has also been one of the most important parents in hybridizing. The album form opens up some new possibilities for hybridizers to remake old hybrids with new colors. For those who don’t make hybrids this will make a lovely addition to any collection. Its bright green flowers make it highly desirable.
