Description

Paphiopedilum wilhelminae is a compact growing multifloral species from New Guinea. There is much controversy over the species in this group. Some people group this with Paphiopedilum praestans, but Kew currently separates them so we will go with that. If you find a Paphiopedilum gardineri or Paphiopedilum glanduliferum it is likely you have one of these.

This is a warm growing species. The temperatures in their habitat rarely fall below 65 F, but we have kept them down into the upper 50’s with no visible impact. Like most other multiflorals they do best in bright light.

The compact nature of this species makes it a popular choice for hybridizers seeking to bring down the size of multiflorals. It’s nice to have plants that fit into your collection!
