Description

This form of Paphiopedilum primulinum is technically not the ‘type’ form. With most species the colored form is considered the ‘type’ and the album or flavum are forms or varieties. With this species the yellow form was described first, so it is the ‘type’ specimen. This form seems to be a little more scarce in the hobby than its yellow counterpart.

This species blooms sequentially, with one or two flowers open at a time. It can stay in bloom for many months. We have seen the same spike continue to produce flowers for well over a year.

Sequential blooming species are easy to grow. Give them a little more light than you would a mottled leaf species or hybrid. Other than that we recommend very similar culture. We have more details on growing Paphs here.
