Description

Paphiopedilum lowii album has always been more difficult to find than the type form of the species. That is because the population was based on a few specimens that had been in-bred, resulting in poor yield and slow growth. This form of lowii has been around long enough that breeders have produced more vigorous, easy to grow plants. It has now become common enough that it is pretty much line priced with the type form.

This species produces tall spikes with up to 6 flowers. This form lacks the dark spots and red tones of the type, leaving bright greens and white behind. Very impressive when in bloom!

This species appreciates bright light and warm temperatures, like most other multiflorals. If given proper care it will reward you with a colorful display of flowers from late winter through spring. You can learn more about how to grow these and other Paphiopedilums here.
