Paphiopedilum Hung Sheng Eagle is a primary hybrid of Paphiopedilum (rothschildianum x gigantifolium). When Paphiopedilum gigantifolium was discovered in 1997, it opened up new possibilities for multifloral hybridizing. Its influence has been very impressive as its hybrids have gracefully curved petals. Crossed with Paphiopedilum rothschildianum we get large, boldly striped flowers on tall stems. It is a very impressive hybrid.
Many multifloral species and hybrids will flower on a single growth. That does not seem to be the case with this hybrid, as they only seem to flower once they have multiple growths. This is why we offer plants with multiple growths…these plants will bloom any time now. Single growth plants can take 3 more years before they spike even if they appear to be ‘blooming size’.
This hybrid has proven to be easy to grow. Just treat them like any other multifloral hybrid. Follow the tips on our care page and you will be successful!
