This is an unusual species, not often seen for sale. The spikes can be very tall…almost 24″ on some plants. It blooms in the winter through summer months producing colorful flowers with distinctive spots on the petals.

Description

Paphiopedilum argus is a relatively uncommon species in the orchid hobby. It produces flowers on surprisingly tall stems given the compact size of the plant. It is found in the Philippines and usually flowers in the winter and spring seasons.

This plant grows like most other mottled leaf Paphiopedilum species. It will grow well with intermediate conditions but is also tolerant of warmer and cooler conditions. We have tips and hints on how to keep your plants happy on our culture page here.
